A counselor or therapist is an individual trained to diagnose and treat mental health conditions and gives guidance on personal, social, or psychological problems. This may include licensed clinical mental health counselors (LCMHC), licensed clinical social workers (LCSW), licensed marriage and family therapists (LMFT), or licensed clinical addiction specialists (LCAS). Providers may have additional certifications or training in working with the perinatal population.
